NCC Modernisation Submission: Streamlining and Modernising the National Construction Code

DIA has made a submission to the Australian Government's consultation on streamlining and modernising the National Construction Code.

The submission addresses the critical misalignment between the NCC and the interior design profession - including the outdated and legally problematic NCC Dictionary definition of 'interior design', the exclusion of Interior Designer from the ABCB National Registration Framework, and the downstream consequences for practitioners and consumers. It also raises the emerging implications of AI-generated design documentation for consumer protection. The submission includes five recommendations and was signed by CEO Simone LeAmon and President Ryan Russell.
