CBOS Submission: Recognition & Licensing of Interior Designers in Tasmania
DIA has lodged a formal submission to Tasmania's Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS) as part of the review of the Building Regulations 2016 and Occupational Licensing (Building Services Work) Regulations 2016.
The submission makes a clear case for establishing a dedicated Interior Designer licence category in Tasmania, proposing a two-tier licensing model aligned with DIA's national framework. It addresses the current regulatory gap that leaves qualified interior designers without a licensing pathway in their own discipline, and outlines how DIA's Accredited Designer™ program can underpin a co-regulation model with CBOS. The submission was prepared by the DIA National Office in consultation with the National Interior Design Working Group and the DIA Tasmanian Council.
