Green Pathways, Gold Places demonstrates an extraordinary commitment by the built environment professions to ensuring the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games deliver a legacy of connected, inclusive and high-quality public realm outcomes for communities across Queensland.

By championing design-led thinking, the initiative has brought national attention to the critical role of landscape architecture in shaping cities and regions. It advocates for nature-based solutions and the delivery of a strategic green grid for better health, biodiversity, recreation and cultural connection.

The initiative’s clear and actionable framework, which advocates for the creation of a 2032 Design Coordination Unit within the Office of the Queensland Government Architect, an integrated green grid, an Olympic forest, and precinct-based design approaches, has united industry and government in a shared vision. This work elevates the role of landscape architects in city-shaping projects and secures long-term social, environmental and economic benefits well beyond the Games.
