DIA Queensland Honours Three New Fellows
Last week, Krost's East Brisbane showroom hosted an evening celebrating three of Queensland's most distinguished design practitioners, as the DIA Queensland Council awarded its Fellowships for 2026. The event brought together designers from across the state for a night built around a singular purpose: recognising careers defined by leadership, mentorship and lasting contribution to the profession.

Dr Christoph Koch, Industrial Design Lecturer and Practitioner at QUT, was recognised for a career spent bridging academia and practical application. His research into parametric CAD and mass-customisation, paired with active collaboration with industry partners, has helped position industrial designers as key contributors to Australia's advanced manufacturing future. Chris also served on the DIA Queensland Branch committee from 2023 to 2025, where he supported emerging practitioners entering the profession.

Prof. Marcus Foth, Professor of Strategic Design at QUT, founded the university's Urban Informatics Research Lab in 2006, establishing urban informatics as an independent field. Nearly two decades of pioneering research across digital civics and more-than-human futures have shaped how designers think about technology's role in civic and community life.

Paloma Hodgins, DIA Queensland Branch Councillor and design educator, has taught across Queensland's tertiary institutions, including the University of Southern Queensland, TAFE Queensland and the University of the Sunshine Coast. Her career has focused on mentoring emerging practitioners and building professional networks that give the state's rising designers a grounded start.
