Product Developer / Industrial Designer (Consumer Goods) – Upstairs Yellow

Upstairs Yellow
Collingwood, Melbourne VIC
Product Developer / Industrial Designer (Consumer Goods)
Full time

Upstairs Yellow is seeking a passionate design professional to join our independent creative products agency.

Based in Collingwood, we’re a small dynamic team working at the forefront of product development and manufacture for some of the globe’s largest alcohol and beverage brands (think: Moet Hennessy, Campari, Penfolds etc). Our environment is fast paced and we’re passionate about creating world class, unique and inspiring products.

If you have passion and hustle to create this is the role for you. We are looking for individual/s who are curious about how things are made and thrive in detail, whether your skills are mostly in design OR development we’d love to chat.

Our process is fast with a development lifecycle from concept to creation running at 4-10 weeks delivery in hand. The great news is that 90% of the products we design make it through to production.

Together in our team you will be supported with a great depth of experience to ensure your ideas are realised which means an understanding of DFM (design for manufacture) is essential. We’re looking for curious minds, with an obsessive streak who never stop learning and can work independently.

Successful candidates will work closely with the Creative Director, and will be involved in the entire design development process from conceptual development to sampling and manufacture through to advanced studio photography in our inhouse studio.

A strong skill set in Adobe Illustrator is required as you quickly create tech packs, diagrams, and scale drawings for hard goods product specs to be used as the blueprint for manufacture. We’d also love to talk to you if your skills lie elsewhere – in CAD (both parametric & visualisation) or Photography/Photoshop/Indesign.
