We are seeking candidates across all jurisdictions:

  • ACT: 5 positions

  • NSW: 2 positions

  • QLD: 3 positions

  • SA/NT: 3 positions

  • Tasmania: 3 positions

  • Victoria: 1 position

  • WA: 3 positions

We need all design voices

Regardless of your design discipline as defined by the Occupation Standard Classifications for Australia (OSCA) 242 e.g. graphic, industrial, interior, textile, jewellery, fashion or digital or the emerging categories such as service or strategic design – your perspective matters.

Each council should represent the full spectrum of our diverse design profession, and we're particularly keen to hear from designers who bring unique viewpoints and experiences.

The commitment

Term: Two years (commencing February 2, 2026)
Meetings: Monthly council meetings + 3 annual National Advisory Council meetings (for Chairs/Deputies)
Events: Support local DIA events and member engagement activities
Impact: Immeasurable

20 October 2025 – Nominations close
27  October - 13 November 2025 – Voting period (if required)
14 November 2025 – Results announced
2 February 2026 – Term begins with comprehensive induction
