DIA – Community: Drift Drink Design wrap up

On Friday 24th February the DIA ACT Branch hosted the inaugural Drift, Drink, Design event. Floating along Lake Burley Griffin in Goboats, sipping bubbles and grazing to contentment, ACT designers were invited to reimagine a product from their sponsoring supplier and place it within the Canberra landscape.

After disembarking, our designers sauntered over to the Cox Gallery to present their proposal. The purpose was networking and the outcomes were hilarious…. From a soundproof bicycling pod that produces enough energy to make your morning almond latte to a mimed reinvention of Tom Skeehan’s Hive as the ultimate life companion, we got what we asked for and so much more.

Sincere thanks to our partners Schiavello, Burgtec, Ninetwofive, Zenith, Stylecraft and Aspect who supported this event and elevated the vibe with some coming in character as ship captains and pirates. Thanks to Cox for lending us their perfectly positioned space.

Thanks to everyone who came along and got involved. The ACT Branch Council is only just getting warmed up so keep an eye open for the next DIA – Community ACT event.
