Points decide eligibility to apply. They do not decide accreditation. At assessment you are also rated against the 13 DIA design competencies. The standard is 60% in a competency, and competency 13, Regulatory and Statutory Practice, is compulsory whatever your discipline.

This calculator is indicative only. It applies the published DIA Accredited Designer™ eligibility framework to the information you enter. It is not an application, an assessment or a determination.

Points establish eligibility, not accreditation. Reaching the points minimum means you may apply. Accreditation is granted by the Design Institute of Australia following assessment of your submitted evidence, and requires 60% in a competency, with competency 13, Regulatory and Statutory Practice, compulsory in every application. You will also be asked, on the application form, for a short statement of practice (about 250 words) covering competencies 9, 11, 12 and 13, because a CV does not usually evidence those four. Assessment also verifies your qualification, your curriculum vitae, your two professional referees and your Certificate of Currency, and your Certificate of Currency must be current at the date the decision is made.

Experience must be relevant, verifiable and gained after your qualification, and is counted to a maximum of fifteen years. Design educators may count their primary tertiary qualification and their teaching experience. The equivalence pathway opens in 2027.
