Carole Whiting
(Carole Whiting Interiors and Design)

Carole believes response to good design is intuitive, innate and unmistakable. She also believes design goes way deeper than aesthetics. It is actually an emotional experience arising from a personal reaction. It’s about user experience and smooth function as much as visual pleasure. Breaking it down to its simplest form, design is about solving a set of problems in an elegant, simple and purposeful way. For me, design is as much about what is left out as what is included. Beauty, simplicity of form, performance and message are the essential elements.

Carole is a firm believer that travel is the best education and has travelled to many places in the world for both for business and private endeavours. Far North West China, South America, West Africa and Indonesia are some of the many places she has travelled to.

Carole was a director at Whiting Architects, during her time she completed projects in high end residential commercial, multi-res, retail, and hospitality.

Carole is now the sole director of the recently established Carole Whiting Interiors and Design.

Neil Cownie
(Neil Cownie Architect)

Neil Cownie is an award winning architect who designs buildings that are enduring in quality and responsive to the needs of our fast changing world – for families, developers, businesses and institutions. He is known for his hands-on approach, an architect who extends his expertise through all aspects of design and construction, trusted at the heart of the process. Neil started his own boutique architectural service in 2009 where his active approach is built upon his considerable professional credentials. As a design director of renowned architectural practice Overman and Zuideveld for over 10 years, many of his numerous projects received industry awards, including RAIA Awards in the categories of Multi-Residential, Institutional, Interior, Commercial and Residential. Architectural trends or a signature style do not restrict Neil Cownie’s designs.

Each new project is treated as a unique journey. These are a collaborative team experience in which Neil works closely with his clients, builders, contractors and other stakeholders. Neil takes the time to listen closely and observe how his clients, or their customers, wish to live and work. The results are intelligent spaces and buildings that resonate with his client’s physical, emotional and financial briefs as well as the climatic parameters of their site.

Keri Cunliffe
(Studio 106 Architect)

Keri received a Master of Interior Architecture with distinction from Victoria University of Wellington in 2015. Since graduating Keri has been employed at Studio106 Architect. Although early in her career, Keri seeks to contribute and shape the professional body of interior architecture within Australasia and understands that a strong foundation of continued learning is the best platform to launch from.

Keri continues to broaden her skill set both as a designer and communicator, creating and contributing to many events and exhibitions for both Studio106 and extramurally. Most recently Keri’s contribution to Studio106’s #GoneMobile event saw it gain international recognition and huge domestic praise.

Extramurally, Keri has pursued an interest in installation design being awarded a place in the Wellington Lux 2015 Lighting festival. The design captivated its visitors with a beautiful blooming structure that extended its reach over visitors; inviting them to explore their own transformation under ultra violet lights.

Keri approaches each project from the details out, focusing on creating spatial experiences that are holistic, active and engaging. She enjoys collaborating with others and has a strong empathetic approach to design; allowing intuition to guide her understanding.
