Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Dubai proudly hosts the 24th General Assembly of the IFI - International Federation of Interior Architects/ Designers and the World Interior Design Congress 2009. Hosted by APID - Association of Professional Interior Designers, UAE, this biennial event, first held in 1963 in Denmark, comes to this region for the first time in its 46 year history.
Interior design is now a business necessity. All commercial developments, whether for domestic occupation, office space, hospitality, retail or health related, understand the true benefits interior design can offer.
The theme for the event this year is "Celebrate Interior Design". It reflects the significance bestowed on the profession and its influence in daily life. It reflects confidence and the attitude that will take this profession into the future. Interior Design, once the necessity of an affluent few, is now universal.
The event takes place from 6th to 11th November 2009 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai, It also includes competitions, exhibitions, workshops and master classes for students and professionals. The event will provide the opportunity for networking, exchange of knowledge and experiences in a global context and for personal development and growth. It will give the international community the opportunity to experience the state of design in the United Arab Emirates and Dubai in particular.
The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers was founded in Denmark in 1963 to unite the profession and provide discussion of interior design issues within a handful of European countries. IFI now represents 52 member associations, institutions and schools in 45 countries on every continent.
The Design Institute of Australia has been a member since 1982
