2nd Istanbul Design Biennial (Istanbul, Turkey)

Design Tour: Swinburne University of Technology, Advanced Manufacturing and Design Centre (Melbourne)

Ahead of the official opening in 2015, join the DIA for a tour of the new $100 million Advanced Manufacturing and Design Centre at Swinburne University of Technology. Designed by Sinclair Knight Merz (acquired by Jacobs in 2013) and UK-based Wilkinson Eyre Architects, the new 5 Star Green Star building features 140 new bicycle spaces, sky gardens, grey water treatment and rainwater harvesting systems. Designed to leave a minimal carbon footprint, the building boasts numerous environmentally sustainable principles including a central atrium that maximises natural light, reused steel and steel that contains post-consumer recycled content.
