IFI moves to Singapore
The International Federation of Interior Architects and Interior Designers (IFI) – which the DIA is a member of – has recently moved its headquarters to Singapore.
The IFI has a policy of moving its headquarters every four years, and the current relocation means that the IFI will be resident in Singapore until the end of 2008.
Regional promotion
The IFI will be working closely with the Singapore Government through the DesignSingapore Council and the Interior Design Council (Singapore) to promote the future development of interior architecture and design in the region.
According to an IFI Press Release, the IFI will be taking ‘an active role in connecting members from all regions of the world through conferences, seminars, producing e-news and providing a new and enhanced interactive website.’

Madeline Lester, a Sydney-based DIA National Director, is the current IFI President Elect, and was present in Singapore recently to witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the IFI and the Singapore Government.
With the IFI’s headquarters now a relatively short distance away from DIA Interior Designers in Australia, the opportunity to benefit from international design trends and forums should be even greater than before.
